Tunng

El núcleo duro del grupo Tunng son el productor Mike Lindsay y el cantante y guitarrista Sam Genders. A ellos se les suman, por estos días, la voz femenina de Becky Jacobs, Ashley Bates y los ruidos e instrumentos exóticos a cargo de Phil Winter y Martin Smith. El año pasado, con el disco Mother's Daughter and Other Songs se volvieron uno de los secretos a voces mejor guardados del folk electrónico en clave lo-fi (o twisted folk). O sea: arpegios de guitarras acústicas y voces hipnóticas entonado melodías pastorales entrelazándose con bases de chasquidos electrónicos, samplers y loops. Algo así como una mezcla entre Nick Drake y The Books, o, por trazar una comparación más cercana a los oyentes de Selector, Fourt Tet y Adem. Pero fue recién hace unos meses, con el EP The Pioneer -en el que reversionan a Bloc Party- y las inspiradas canciones del álbum Comments From The Inner Chorus, que demostraron que lo mejor todavía estaba por venir. Porque son las buenas canciones, siempre, las que terminan haciendo la diferencia. Por suerte, acá vas a poder escuchar algunas de ellas. Y además, como buenos hippies barbudos, los Tunng son gente generosa, y dejan que te descargues tres de sus mejores momentos (Woodcat, Tale from Black y Pool Beneteah the Pond) y mires el video de uno de ellos gratis.

The Boy Least Likely To

El dúo inglés The Boy Least Likely To es la última actualización del pop juguetón con arreglos delicados. Algo así como la sala de jardín de infantes del chamber pop, en la que Pete Hobbs y Jof Owen se divierten pintando sus canciones con una amplia paleta de sonidos. Pero lejos de la rusticidad de sus ilustraciones, hechas por el hermanito menor de Pete, quien les inspiró el nombre de su disco debút –The Best Party Ever- este dúo traza los finos contornos de sus temas con coloridos crayones: banjos, campanitas, palmas y orquestaciones de miniatura. Acá podés escuchar casi todas las canciones de The Best Party Ever.
Y, también, entrando a su página vas a poder ver los videos de los dos cortes editados hasta el momento: Hugging My Grudge y Be Gentle With Me, que vienen sonando en Selector desde hace varios meses.
