The Pipettes

The Pipettes es un trío de chicas de la ciudad de Birghton que con su debut de principios de año, We Are The Pipettes, se puso a la cabeza de la avanzada femenina de la música británica temporada 2006, junto a bandas como Ladufuzz y Longblondes, entre otras. Como su nombre indica, su sonido e imagen se inspiran en los mejores grupos de chicas de los cincuenta y sesenta que producía el gran Phil Spector, como The Ronettes o The Shirelles o The Chiffons -con alguna que otra actualización moderna, claro. “Déjenos a nosotras escribir la historia de la música pop, pero no empecemos con The Beatles,” escriben The Pipettes en una suerte de manifiesto. “We don't love you (yeah, yeah, yeah), We don't want to hold your hand,” agregan estas chicas tan lindas como iconoclastas. Ellas, dicen, quieren tomar la magia y la energía de un período que consideran su edad de oro: los años de Spector, Joe Meek y los estudios Motown, Stax y Studio One. Y cómo no quererlas a Becki, Gwenno y Rose con semejante declaración de principios. Acá vas a poder escuchar cuatro canciones de su debut y ver algunos de sus videos, que son muy divertidos.
